Abstract

This study was conducted to examine and analyze the effect of work motivation, competence, and workload on employee performance in the Semarang City Government. The population in this study was 147 administrators of local assets in the Semarang City Government. Using the Slovin formula, a sample of 108 respondents was obtained. The analytical tool used in this study was Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS version 3.2.7. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that work motivation has a positive effect on employee performance, competence has a positive effect on employee performance, workload does not affect employee performance, and work discipline does not affect employee performance. In addition, work discipline strengthens the influence of work motivation on employee performance, while work discipline is not able to moderate the influence of competence on employee performance.
