The Effect of Leadership and Work Motivation on Performance with Work Discipline as an Intervening Variable

This study aims to determine the influence of leadership and work motivation on employee performance, both directly and indirectly through work discipline as an intervening variable. The population in this study consisted of all employees of PT. Sinarmas Multifinance Semarang, Asset Recovery section, totaling 283 people. The sampling technique used was random sampling using the Slovin formula, resulting in 120 employees of PT. Sinarmas Multifinance Semarang Asset Recovery section as the sample. The data used in this study were primary and secondary data, followed by path analysis using IBM SPSS Statistics 19. The analysis shows that leadership and work motivation have a positive direct effect on work discipline. In addition, leadership, work motivation, and work discipline also have a positive direct effect on employee performance. However, the results show that leadership and work motivation do not have an indirect effect on employee performance through work discipline. This indicates that work discipline does not act as an intervening variable in linking leadership and work motivation to employee performance.
