Employees’ Perceptions of the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Institutions in Semarang City

The Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) marks the latest phase of industrial transformation characterized by the emergence of advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, which has significantly influenced changes in human resource management (HRM) and business practices. This study aims to examine the effect of artificial intelligence on employee engagement and employee retention among employees working in state-owned and private offices in Semarang City. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 108 employees who utilize artificial intelligence, with samples selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS version 26 through feasibility tests, classical assumption tests, and simple hypothesis analysis. The findings reveal that artificial intelligence has a significant positive effect on both employee engagement and employee retention, indicating that the adoption of artificial intelligence can contribute to strengthening employees’ involvement and increasing their willingness to remain within the organization.
