Social Entrepreneurial Intention: The Role of Prior Experience, Social Entrepreneurial Self-Efficacy, and Financial Security

Abstract

This study aims to examine the relationship and influence of self-efficacy, social entrepreneurship, prior experience, and financial security on social entrepreneurship intentions. The research sample consisted of 100 students from MM STIE BPD Central Java. Data were analyzed using a structural equation model to test the relationships between variables, employing PLS version 4. The results indicate that social entrepreneurship intentions are significantly influenced by social entrepreneurship self-efficacy and prior practical experience, with a p-value < 0.5. In addition, financial security also plays an important role in supporting social entrepreneurship intentions by reducing the risks and uncertainties faced by prospective social entrepreneurs. Individuals with high self-efficacy and relevant practical experience tend to have stronger intentions to engage in social entrepreneurship. This study provides important implications for developing training programs and policies that support social entrepreneurship intentions by enhancing self-efficacy and providing practical experience opportunities, as well as creating a supportive financial environment. Further research is recommended to explore additional factors influencing social entrepreneurship intentions with stronger theoretical foundations.
